With their do-it-yourself philosophy, the Franco-German band Äl Jawala has accomplished amazing success since 2000 They were among the first to combine club beats and hip hop with wild, oriental brass segments. And they did this completely without electronics sampling, being rooted in the street music scene. Originating from the German Southwest city of Freiburg they played the streets of Europe unleashing an entire Gypsy Brass Band with percussion, drums and two saxophones. In the meantime Äl Jawala rock concert stages from the Atlantic Ocean to the Black Sea. Even after the peak of the "Balkan hype" they continue to grow their fan base in all regions. They toured China, Jordan and Canada, and recently contributed some of their songs to the soundtrack of the MTV series "Rebel Music".They call their style Balkan Big Beats - Fat Boy Slim meets folk! The virtuoso saxophone horn section, paired with dance beats and electronic basses, bring dance floors to a boil. Urban, club style, sometimes mysterious, dark and with a fat portion of Rock'n'Roll attitude, Äl Jawala deliver a unique blend of party and concert experience. Their music is unconditionally danceable, loud and self-indulgent, without losing musical depth and various styles. Äl Jawala play with stereotypes and various genres. From antagonizing tensions they create a unique universal sound. This creates something elemental, crossover, that unites people and creates collective dance ecstasy - whether in a Balkan Party, a jazz club or on a rock festival.
